The body of a man has been found on the railway line between Salisbury and Warminster.
Police were alerted shortly before 9am, and all First Great Western services on the line were delayed for almost an hour while emergency services recovered the body.
British Transport Police spokesman Brian Price, said: "Officers from BTP and Wiltshire Police attended the railway line at Bapton Manor, Wyle, Wiltshire, after a report of a body next to the tracks.
“On arrival, officers and medics from South Western Ambulance Service located the body of a man, who has yet to be identified, with injuries consistent with having been hit by a train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident, which was reported to BTP at 8.49am, is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and inform his family.
“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
