Bin workers picketed outside Trowbridge-based FCC Environment this morning as they appealed for improved pay.
Around 40 staff flew flags and waved banners outside the company’s premises in Riverway as part of the GMB organised strike action.
FCC Environment run Wiltshire Council’s bin collection services across west Wiltshire. Employees want to discuss a pay rise with the company and claim that management have not opened negotiations with them.
Carole Vallelly, a GMB regional organiser for the area, said: “We’ve had a really strong show of solidarity from our members today. What we want now is for FCC to negotiate with us, as we’ve not heard anything so far.”
Ms Vallelly said the union and its members who work for FCC Environment will be meeting to discuss plans for potential further strikes next Monday.
