CHRISTINE Giles, 38, grew up in Swindon and joined the army at the age of 21. She served as a technician in the Royal Signals for 14 years, before leaving to become a full-time mum.

After giving birth to her children she became interested in what kinds of foods would be best for them and how those foods are produced. That interest grew into a business idea, and in April she opened the Who Cares? ethical supermarket on the Avonside Enterprise Park in Melksham.

Mrs Giles lives in Whitley with her husband and two daughters, Jessica, three, and Elizabeth, two...

What do you like most about living in Wiltshire?

I like it because it's my home county, the people are friendly and you can easily get into the countryside. You have the choice of going to bigger places like Bath if you want to, but you are also in the country when you are in Wiltshire as well.

Where would you recommend for a good evening out and why?

The Pear Tree in Whitley is a nice place and we enjoy going there, but it would be good if either we or somebody else could open a restaurant where everything is free range, ethically sourced and the goods are fair trade. Until then I'm not really one for going out regularly.

Who would be your ideal dinner partner and why?

That's a difficult question because I can't really decide between Bob Geldof, Jonathan Ross and Robbie Williams. I like them all for different reasons. What Bob Geldof has done is amazing, and he will change the world.

Which local landmark or attraction would you recommend?

Longleat is a really good place because you get to see animals in their natural habitat and it's good for a day out. Having said that it would be even better if they opened a fair trade ethical caf.

What is your favourite book and why?

I don't read fiction because I find it a waste of time. I'm more into factual reading and I like magazines such as Ethical Consumer, Ecologist and New Consumer so I can keep up with what is going on in the industry.

What is your favourite music and why?

I like all of the music from the Sound of Music because it's all upbeat, positive and about happy living.

How do you relax?

Playing with my children is a good way to relax I find, and when they've gone to bed I enjoy a cup of tea and doing my research on the computer.

What keeps you awake at night?

Nothing really. The concern I do have though is that I don't want to think I'm leaving a world for my children that has been damaged by climate change.

If you were stranded on a desert island what three things would you take?

It would have to be my husband and two daughters and if I was allowed to take a fourth, it would be our dog Olly. I hope the day doesn't come when we are stranded on a desert island because of climate change.
