MORE than 500 people flocked to an eco-friendly supermarket in Melksham for an event promoting sustainable living and fair trade.
On Saturday, Who Cares?, on the Avonside Enterprise Park, played host to a series of stands, talks, exhibitions and demonstrations, aiming to show people how they can use ethical, healthy and cruelty free products, many of which are produced locally.
Arranged to coincide with the supermarket's six-month anniversary, the event featured guest speakers including Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, the Conservative Party's parliamentary candidate for Chippenham, and stands from organisations such as Wiltshire Wood Recycling and Yatesbury Organic Farm.
Christine Giles, who runs Who Cares?, said: "I was really pleased, it was an excellent day and the turnout was brilliant.
"There was a great atmosphere, and we had some very positive feedback from the stallholders about the event.
"It was suitable for people of all ages and there was lots for the children to do, so I think it helped get the message of sustainable living across without ramming it down people's throats."
