ENGLAND is the only (supposedly) democratic nation systematically being eradicated by a government it never even elected into power.
While Scotland has its own parliament and Wales its assembly (soon to become a parliament), England is denied its own parliament because, politicians say, this will break up the United Kingdom.
Therefore England must cease to exist for the sake of the Union.
As far as England is concerned, anything with "United" or "Union" in its title means the English pay, but have no say.
England is being discriminated against in such things as free eye tests in Scotland (not England), free central heating for pensioners in Scotland (not England), free prescriptions in Wales (not England), and the list goes on and on. Such disadvantages are imposed upon England by MPs in Wales and Scotland providing the Government's majority in the British parliament at Westminster.
England is the only country in the EU without its own parliament and it's high time it had one.
I am conducting a letter campaign: Wiltshire Times readers who reckon England should have an elected parliament to replace unelected regional assemblies should send me a letter reading: "I demand an English Parliament be established in 2007." This is the 300th anniversary of England's union with Scotland.
Include your name and address for validation (I will not contact you) and I will deliver the letters to 10 Downing Street personally. Please put Wiltshire Times in the bottom left-hand corner and I will inform the editor how many readers participated.
I have hundreds of letters already and am currently receiving about 20 letters per day, so please boost this number. I will accept several signatures (with addresses) on the same letter, so get family and friends to help.
