CHIPPENHAM Town manager Darren Perrin has failed in a bid to bring former Bluebird Matthew McEntegart back to the club on loan.
Forest Green Rovers agreed to release the Aussie centre half, who has yet to start a league game at the New Lawn, but Chippenham could not afford the player's wages.
Perrin said:: "I did try to get Matthew back but he's a full-time professional now and his wages are far too high for us."
McEntegart said he was happy at Forest Green and would only consider a loan move to a Conference South or Conference North club.
But the defender added: "If worst comes to the worst and I have to drop back down to the Southern Premier, I wouldn't want to play anywhere other than Chippenham Town."
