IF you are considering updating your central heating system, or installing one from scratch, the best way to get the job done properly is to employ a professional heating contractor.
We all know what can happen when you have a DIY disaster or employ a cowboy contractor.
If you have applied for a grant to help with your heating equipment, why not look for a member of the Grant Aided Heating Installers Network, whose members have adopted a new code of conduct, which covers fair dealing with customers, avoiding misleading statements, maintaining technical registration and competence and a complaints procedure.
The code has the full support of the Eaga partnership, manager of the Warm Front Scheme in England. Warm Front is a government-funded scheme which provides a package of insulation and heating improvements tailored to each property to make it warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient.
It includes loft insulation, draught-proofing, cavity wall insulation, hot water tank insulation, gas, oil or electric central heating or repairs to an existing system up to a value of £2,700 - up to £4,000 for oil central heating. For more information call 0800 316 6011.
