BERKHAMSTED Town have appointed former Leighton Town manager Paul Burgess as their new boss.

He replaces Guillermo Ganet, who has stood down as manager but remains as chairman. Burgess, who has led Hemel Hempstead Town and Tring, spent four years at Leighton before parting company with the club a few weeks ago after a poor start to the season.

Burgess has appointed two assistants. Gordon Taylor returns to the club he managed for two seasons during the 1990s and former reserve team manager Tony Duncombe, has also returned to help revive Berkhamsted's fortunes.

BURNHAM captain Paul Brett has been presented with a watch to mark his 600th appearance for the club.

And Burnham chairman Malcolm Higton has been presented with a certificate from the Berks and Bucks FA in recognition of 40 years of football service to the local community.

CIRENCESTER TOWN'S youth side became one of three Southern League clubs with a team in the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup, when they defeated Weymouth away by 4-1.

CLEVEDON TOWN have signed Darren Mullings, a 19-year-old midfielder, from Bristol Rovers on a month's loan. Mullings made four Football League appearances for the Pirates last season.

GLOUCESTER CITY have signed Worcester City's 18-year-old forward Troy Wood on a month's loan. Gloucester have recently lost Michael Whittington, who has returned to Cheltenham Town, Jody Bevan, who has a chipped bone and ligament damage, and Jason Welsh, who has a dislocated shoulder, caused with the help of his team-mates when celebrating Welsh's second goal in the recent FA Trophy tie against Tiverton.

HITCHIN TOWN have signed 18-year-old defender Christopher Pendleton from Luton Town on a three month loan.

MANGOTSFIELD UNITED have signed 19-year-old goalkeeper Willem Puddy from Cheltenham Town on work experience. He replaces Michael Green, who has been recalled by Bristol Rovers.

OXFORD CITY'S youth team are undefeated in all competitions, so far, this season. Last week's win over Aldershot, on penalties, has taken the team into the FA Youth Cup first round proper, where they will meet Yeovil Town.

RUSHALL OLYMPIC have lost leading goalscorer Tyrone Barnet to Telford United. Only hours after agreeing a new deal to stay at Dales Lane at least until Christmas, Barnett informed the club he was leaving to join Telford.

STOURPORT SWIFTS' manager Roy Rencher and his assistant Jake Findlay have left the club.

After narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of last season, Stourport are again at the wrong end of the table having won three of ten league games. A 5-1 home defeat last Saturday by Mangotsfield United, and a 3-1 exit from the Worcestershire Senior Cup at St. Georges Lane, Worcester on Monday compounded a worrying period in Swifts' history.
