Graham Coombe, club professional at Isle of Wedmore since the club opened 14 years ago, has now become a golf club owner as well.
He and three members of the Somerset club have bought Palleg Golf Club near Swansea and have appointed Baden Jones as the PGA professional.
Jones, aged 32, comes from Pontadawe and started as a trainee assistant professional at Ashburnham in 1992. In 1998 he became a teaching professional at Golf Club Reit im Winkl in Austria and two years later was promoted to head teaching pro.
He returned to Wales after seven years to work with Langland Bay professional Mark Evans as teaching assistant so was perfectly placed to join Palleg as the club's first pro.
The other partners are head greenkeeper Kevin Innals, builder Geoff Fisher and club director and secretary Andrew Edwards.
Coombe, who started with Barry Sandry at Broome Manor 25 years ago, was previously at Weston-super-mare with Terry Murray who he later rejoined at Tall Pines for a year. He spends three days a week in Wales.
"There had been a lack of investment at the club and on the course and everything was deteriorating but it is all progressing well now," he said
