Yeovil's talented teenager Henrietta Brockway has been in record-setting form again over the past few days. Her latest success was in the Liphook Scratch Cup.
The 16-year-old star-of-the-future from Mere carded a new course record with a second round seven-under-par 65 after an opening 72 at the Hampshire course.
She won the scratch prize beating the previous ladies' course record holder Kerry Smith (Waterlooville) by four shots.
Her score was not only by far the best ladies' round but was also one shot lower than the lowest any man has ever recorded. She was out in four under par and back in three under par with birdies on all five par fives.
Earlier this year she raised eyebrows once more at her home club by shattering the course record by three strokes with a round of 69 in an LGU medal. This bettered the previous mark posted by Hanni Davidson.
Henni, a past winner of both the English under 13 and under 15 titles, led the qualifiers for the matchplay stage in the English Girls' Championship at Kings Norton but was beaten in the semi final by the eventual winner.
She has now left Gillingham School and plays golf almost all the time. Her ambition is to become a professional when she is old enough in two years' time.
Playing off a handicap of plus-one, she achieved a great ambition this season when she made the cut after two rounds playing on a sponsor's invitation in the Ladies European Italian Open after an opening two-under 70.
And she only missed playing in all four rounds in Hungary by one shot.
