Knowle's Hannah Barwood is still counting the cost of two bad holes that denied her the chance of a dream golfing trip to Hong Kong in the New Year.
She was heading for a comfortable win in the Faldo Series finals at Celtic Manor Resort last week when disaster occurred in the third and final round.
She took seven at the seventh and followed with an eight at the 14th when she smashed two shots into the water. After carding an almost-unheard-of 86 she lost the lead she had held for two days.
So instead of joining the age group winners in China to meet a side from Nick Faldo's newly created Asian Tour the Bath schoolgirl will be continuing with her A level studies in history and physical education at Oldfield School.
"It was so disappointing," said Hannah, 16. She was leading by a massive five shots after shooting 76 in the first round and even 82 in the second meant she retained a two-shot lead going into the second day.
But she was caught and passed by Stephanie Meadow from Northern Ireland and lost the title by two shots.
But she managed to enjoy two long conversations with the winner of six majors and she asked numerous questions and received a number of illuminating answers.
She was anxious to know how he felt when he finished runner up after losing the lead during his days playing at the highest level.
"He said I needed to analyse what happened, why I made those mistakes on two holes and what aspect of my game let me down," she reported.
Hannah is still able to play in the Faldo Series for the next two years and is determined to put this disappointment behind her next year.
