Carl Jessup has quit full-time professional golf. After starting out in financial services and working in an office he is now "between jobs".

He is hoping to set up a golf consultancy to organise corporate days and has still retained his membership of the Bournemouth Alliance and the Professional Golfers' Association.

He shared first place with Paul Jones (Canford Magna) and Paul Brown (Knighton Heath) on level par 71 at Yeovil.

His departure follows the decision of Dorset county player Chantal Scott, who was also based at Knighton Heath, to become an air hostess.

Paul Brown has now enlisted Dan Clark, the Broadstone and Canford Magna amateur, as his assistant.

Broadstone professional Mathew Wilson has decided not to sign a PGA professional as his assistant for the time being. Instead he employed promising amateur Josh Vincent and Alex Cook, a young golfer new to the area, for this summer with a view to a making a more permanent arrangement this winter.

Six-footer Vincent, 19, a former Ringwood School pupil who play off five at Broadstone, is a member of the Bournemouth Alliance and he won a better-ball medal with Dudsbury touring player Mark Wiggett in January. He has represented Dorset at colts and junior level.
