Former Somerset county junior champion and England schools international Lindsey Elkins has become Farrington's new assistant professional.

She will share the teaching duties with Jonathan Lawrence and spend three days a week looking after the interests of members and visitors in the pro shop.

Lindsey, aged 23 from Wells, passed her first two years' PGA training exams at Oake Manor, Taunton, and expects to be fully qualified next year under had pro Jon Cowgill's tuition.

She left Oake Manor to have her first baby, Molly, in June and, although her home is still in Taunton with partner Jake, a sergeant in the Marines, her parents live at Coxley, near Wells.

"Moving to Farrington is ideal as I stay with my parents who look after Molly while I am working," she said.

Lindsey spent six years at Millfeld School where she was a key member of the golf programme. She played in county teams off a handicap of two.

She enjoys playing and plans to compete again next year on the Women's PGA circuit with a view to playing far more in the future. She has already played in Portugal and Ireland.

So she intends to make full use of Farrington's outstanding practice facilities that are rated the best in the county.

"The club has absolutely everything here to bring the best out of any golfer," she said.
