Alistair James (Cumberwell Park), pictured right, won Wiltshire's Gillson Trophy awarded annually to the player scoring the most points for the county in the two match-play events, the Channel League and South Western Counties Championship.

James, 22, who became the youngest vice-captain in the county's history when he was appointed by captain Jonathan James (Wrag Barn), has played county golf for seven years.

A former Wiltshire boy' and colts' champion he started playing golf at the Cumberwell, the Bradford-on-Avon club owned by his family, in 1995.

He is former King Edward's School, Bath, student and a graduate of Exeter University where he became captain of the British Universities team.

He took the trophy with 11.75 points, beating Miles Mackman (Broome Manor) with 10.37 points and the county boys' captain Matt Swales (Cumberwell Park) who was third with 9.50.
