The Tegetmeier family came to Bradford on Avon in the Spring of 1965, after 6 years in British Columbia, Canada. Adam’s parents lived at Wardour, Wiltshire, and finding no photographer based in Bradford on Avon, he set up a studio and dark room within easy reach of Newtown, the fields and St Thomas More RC Church.
Once equipped, the black and white process of developing film, requiring very accurate exposure to light, followed by detailed printing techniques, could begin. No click of a button then, but hours of dark room work. Some of Photography West’s first clients were Avon Antiques, Moulton Developments and Peradin. The variety of subjects was considerable, from pigeons in flight in Trafalgar Square to toys for the Tridias catalogue. All fine with “Mr West”. Architectural photography could be a distance away. Anywhere between Portsmouth and Liverpool though mostly in the Bath area.
Mr West closed his doors (turned out the lights) in June 2008. Adam and Elizabeth’s VW camper could retire to holiday mode.
