FRANK Raymond Julius (Ray) Aged 86, passed away peacefully on Monday 25th January 2021. Raymond was a happy and popular member of the Watersmead OSJCT in Westbury, where he had been cared for with great love and affection during the last years of a debilitating illness. He will be hugely missed by Janet, his darling wife of 58 years, their children Helen, Julia and Antony and grandchildren Louis, Fergus, Barnaby and Lucy Mabel, and his sister Carol, as well as by many family and friends. He loved Westbury, where he lived for over 40 years, mainly in happy retirement filled with grandchildren, supporting Arsenal, following horse racing and boxing, and gardening. Raymond and Carol grew up in London and Newcastle, and were wartime evacuees in Warmington. Raymond started his catering career in London before, aged 17, travelling by ship to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), where he lived and worked for five years in Bulawayo and the Cameroons, having many adventures that he never forgot. On his return from Africa, Raymond enlisted in the Army Catering Corps and lived abroad with his young family in Aden, then Germany, returning to postings in Berkshire, Hampshire and across Salisbury Plain, and Hyde Park Barracks in London. The Royal British Legion is his chosen charity, donations via www.funeralcare.co.uk/tributes-and-donations Due to current restrictions, only close friends and family are able to attend his funeral, to be held on 10th February 2021 at West Wiltshire Crematorium. Raymond's beautiful smile and gentle nature will never be forgotten by those lucky enough to have known him.
