Ruby and the Big Top Thursday, November 2, Arc Theatre, Trowbridge
Be whisked back in time to the mysterious world of 1930's circus life with Bea Theatre's magical production Ruby and the Big Top which is performed at the Arc Theatre Trowbridge on Thursday at 7.30pm.
The show is a side splitting, sideways look at the hilarious performances and secretive lives of circus clowns. The production features six of the UK's best dance actors who have all performed for Matthew Bourne's award winning New Adventures and with a guest appearance from Diana Payne-Myers, an inspirational performer in her seventies, this magical performance is guaranteed to bring joy and delight.
The central character Ruby, takes us on a journey as she drifts back in time recalling her traumatic youth in the 1930's circus ring where chief clown Pucko's terrific laughter turns into Ruby's trauma.
Through slapstick and physical humour Ruby and her fellow clowns show the audience how fierce the competition is to stay in the spotlight and how their on and off stage lives collide and conflict.
With dance, drama and traditional clowning, this is a real family treat.
