REVIEW: Young Artists Recital Series
Sarah Sew and Tadashi Imai
The Young Artists Recital Series at Corsham’s Pound Arts Centre offers a rare opportunity to see the bright stars of today and tomorrow, at an accessible and exciting lunchtime concert.
British violinist Sarah Sew joined pianist Tadashi Imai for the second in this recital season on Wednesday.
Sew’s playing combines gravitas and passion with a pleasing grace and lightness of touch. Her musical partnership with Imai was sensitive and seamless.
The programme included a delightful mix, beginning with Strauss’s Violin Sonata in E-flat Major, followed by Szymanowski’s impressionistic Mythes 1: La Fontaine D’Arethuse, and finally, Henryk Wieniawski’s Scherzo Tarantelle.
