Revolution, the musical written by Nicholas Keyworth, former director of Pound Arts and ex-Wiltshire Times reporter Michael Wilkinson, is heading to the West End in December, bidding to catch the ear of top producers and directors.
The pair hope the showcase will lead to their dream of seeing their work performed on the London stage, become a reality.
“This is the next big hurdle for Revolution. We’ve taken it as far as we can, production-wise. We are, after all, writers not producers,” said Mike. “We are incredibly excited by it though, some of the biggest organisations in musical theatres will be coming, and it is hard not to be excited about that.”
The musical, which premiered at the Corsham festival two years ago in its pilot stage, tells an epic new love story set against the backdrop of the war in Bosnia in 1992.
A version was seen at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2012 after a successful tour in Wiltshire and an appearance at Wiltshire Olympic gala.
Among those singing in London will be original cast members Jeremy Garner and Daniel Falber. Mike said: “They both have incredible voices. They will be working alongside some seasoned West End performers so it will be an interesting mix.
“A lot has changed since Edinburgh. Now it is fast approaching a full-length musical. That means we have lots of new material, new storylines, new characters.
“The story is stronger with more twists and turns. It will feel like being reacquainted with an old friend.”
