I am saddened to see the current state of the Devizes Millennium White Horse. The sorry appearance does not give a good impression to visitors and to the community, as it has obviously not been cared for in many months. This is especially so in the summer, when so many like to go up there to walk and picnic.
The chalk surface is badly overgrown and looks grey and blotchy from a distance. Usually, in the dry of summer, the chalk looks lovely and white. As well as this, the gravel pathway leading to the mobility gate is so overgrown that no wheel or pushchair could go through to the seat in the field. Perhaps Roundway Parish Council, which has the care of the horse, would consider some urgent maintenance so that we can all feel proud of the horse once more.
