CALNE Town put a miserable season behind them to win the Wiltshire Senior Cup at Salisbury City FC last night.

The Lilywhites took the lead in the sixth minute when, on the attack, Neurin Jones launched the ball over the midfield for Dan King to run on to.

The latter crossed from right to left for Ben Thomson to take one touch and cross the ball back into the 18 yard box for Mark Dolman to score with a sweet header in the top left corner.

Nineteen minutes later, Calne went two up when, in a similar move to the previous goal, Dolman scored his and Calne’s second.

At the re-start Laverstock & Ford upped the pressure, but it was Calne that went further ahead in the 53rd minute when King stroked the ball home from close range.

Seven minutes later, Laverstock pulled a goal back when in a quick attack Rob Gallagher scored against the run of play.

Laverstock now began to believe all was not lost and pulled another goal back within four minutes.

As much as Laverstock's heads were up, Calne’s were down and the defence went off the boil completely and Laverstock scored an equaliser in the 65th minute.

Calne were now up against it, but in the 68th minute, superb work from Rob Drown keeping the ball and tricking the defence, saw him cross to King for the latter to fire home Calne Town’s winning goal.
