WARMINSTER Town’s U16s emerged victorious from the County Futsal Championships on Saturday after losing only one of their six games.
The youngsters made the worst possible start when losing their opening game by a goal to nil, meaning a minimum of four wins from their concluding five matches were required if they were to challenge for a place in the regional final.
Despite conceding early in their second game, Warminster recovered to win 2-1 – providing a much-needed confidence boost.
Solid defending and clinical finishing up front meant Warminster secured three points in their remaining four games.
Jake Small proved decisive in the air while Jake Wright’s quick feet caused problems for all opposing teams.
Form was also strong at the opposite end of the pitch with Sam Wright making multiple blocks to compliment the efforts of Liam Ashman in goal as only two goals were conceded all afternoon.
The team will now represent Wiltshire in the Regional Futsal Championships in Plymouth.
