A PAINTING used for a running joke in the BBC comedy series 'Allo 'Allo is to be displayed in Longleat.
The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies, painted by fictional artist Van Clomp, was fought over by the French wartime resistance and the Germans in the 1980s sitcom.
The former Lord Bath was such a fan of the show the BBC presented him with a copy of the completely worthless painting but it was placed in storage after his death.
A spokesman for Longleat said: "It was forgotten about until we got a call from a local operatic society who were putting on a play of 'Allo 'Allo and heard that Longleat had a painting of the Fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies.
"We thought this would be a great opportunity to show it off properly and at the same time rekindle some nostalgia of a classic comedy show."
The painting was the source of much amusement during the series, which starred Gorden Kaye as French caf owner Rene Artois.
In one episode he hid the painting among German sausages to get it out of the clutches of the Gestapo's Herr Flick.
