A MULTI-MILLION pound project to bring an eight-screen cinema, bowling alley, restaurants, a 60-bed hotel, library and flats to Trowbridge has been given the go-ahead.
A partnership between developers Modus, Wiltshire County Council and West Wiltshire District Council has progressed the £90m project, which cleared a major hurdle last night.
The district council's planning committee voted through an outline planning application at a meeting held in Bradley Road, Trowbridge.
There are hopes the whole project, for council-owned land off Bythesea Road, spanning both sides of the river Biss, could be completed by 2010.
Cllr Ernie Clark, chairman of the planning committee, said he looked forward to seeing tower cranes on the horizon.
"It is about time Trowbridge got a kick start - this is a good start."
