A major A-road in Wiltshire has been closed following a “large fuel spill.”
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service confirmed the A36 had been shut south of Warminster, between Knook and Heytesbury, shortly before 4.30pm on Tuesday, March 26.
Fire crews have since been working at the scene to tackle a large fuel spill.
Drivers have been warned that the road is due to be closed for a significant length of time and they should avoid the area.
A spokesperson for the service said: “The A36 is currently closed between Knook and Heytesbury due to a large fuel spill.
“The road will be closed for some time so please avoid the area.”
At the time of writing, traffic maps indicated the road remained closed, with the AA reporting heavy traffic as a result of the blockage.
