Police have descended on farm buildings in Trowbridge after a member of the public discovered a dead body.
Several police units have been seen close to some farm buildings on the Ashton Road between Hilperton and Stoney Gutter, where the Sunday car boot sales are held.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "We are currently in attendance at a rural location at Ashton Common, east of Trowbridge, following a call into our control room shortly after 1.30pm today (March 7) by a member of the public reporting a deceased person.
"We are investigating the circumstances and we would ask members of the public to avoid the area to allow emergency services to examine the scene.
"We will provide further updates when appropriate.
"Anyone with information relating to this is asked to call us on 999 quoting log 142 of today’s date."
Scenes of crime forensic officers and armed police officers have been attending the incident.
At least one of the police forensics team was kitted out in a protective light boiler suit, mask and hair net while talking to a uniformed officer.
Our photographer Trevor Porter said: “There were four or five police cars at the scene. One had two armed police personnel, also a senior police officer and a scenes of crime forensic officer.
“Police have taped across the back side of a white building near the Stoney Gutter crossroads.”
A notice on the entrance gate says the buildings are monitored by 24-hour closed-circuit television cameras but it is not known whether they are switched on.
