The owners of a four-bedroom home on a Melksham housing development have blasted the developer for not fixing uneven flooring and several other snagging issues.

Mehreen Naeem and her husband Naeem Khawar paid more than £442,000 in November 2021 to David Wilson Homes for their new home on its Hunters Wood development.

But the couple, who have two adult children aged 19 and 22, claim that their experience of dealing with the company has been an absolute nightmare.

Mrs Naeem, 46, of Mint Grove, says a long list of more than 100 snagging issues has led to emotional and mental stress and extreme inconvenience.

She said: “My throughout experience from their sales team till now is unbelievable.

“We had more than 100 issues on a snagging list and there are still things not resolved yet that I’m still fighting on my pending snag list.

“Instead of resolving the issues, fixing all the snags, the management are continuously pushing it back, using the words tolerance and settlement.

“They have made our house boundaries incorrect and when asked them to rectify they were not willing to do anything.

“Luckily, we received our deeds copy and spoke to our solicitor about it, and on that basis they did our boundaries.

“You cannot expect that from your housebuilder to mess around with your property which you have already paid for.”

Mrs Naeem, who works as a special needs assistant and an exam invigilator, says it is not just her family who have complained.

She claims close neighbours occupying the new houses built by the company, part of Barratt plc, have also experienced snagging issues.

David Wilson Homes has built 225 two, three and four-bedroomed homes on the Hunters Wood development off Spa Road, Melksham.

Mrs Naeen added: “I still have a few pending snagging issues, including the downstairs WC sink and toilet waste pipes which were higher than the WC floor which needs fixing.”

She claims David Wilson Homes has not yet fixed the floor, which she says is not level, and that her Amtico tiles have been damaged after being scratched.

“Due to this issue my Amtico floor warranty got voided, this issue is ongoing.

“First they were blaming the flooring people, then the flooring company blamed the ground workers and it took a year to resolve the waste pipes issue, but they haven't levelled the floor.

“When plumbers came they scratched almost 12 Amtico tiles, so now the tiles need replacing. The whole WC flooring needs redoing.

“It started in March 2023 and is still going on and now instead of fixing it they have made it worse, especially from where the floor was completely levelled.

“Now it is uneven with bumps and dips and tiles not sticking.”

David Wilson Homes’ operational manager and the flooring company’s chief executive officer inspected the flooring last month but nothing was done, Mrs Naeem claims.

“This is why we are working hard to rectify all of the issues the customer has brought to our attention and only have two small items remaining which are currently being progressed.

“At Hunters Wood we have an excellent customer satisfaction score of 100 per cent this year and are proud of the high-quality community that has been created.”
