A new restaurant owner in Wiltshire has been left stunned by the support of the community since opening the venue.

At The Marina by Chef Pablo & Teo, also referred to as @ The Marina, officially opened at the Devizes Marina Village, near The Hourglass pub, on Saturday, April 13.

The new family-owned eatery is run by professional chef Dumitru Paul Tudosescu, known as Pablo, and his close friend Teo, who he calls his cousin.

Since opening, Pablo says the new restaurant has been busy every day, with customers flocking to the town’s newest waterside destination.

He added: “We didn’t expect so many people and so many good reviews, it was overwhelming to be honest how many people came in and enjoyed the food.

“We’ve been quite busy and had about 50 or 60 people turn up each day, it was about double the amount of people I expected.

“Luckily, we were prepared and had help from all our family, and people seemed to be happy and thanked us.”

Part of the reason for the new restaurant’s early success is the loyal following that Pablo and Teo have built up while running a food van in the town.

Pablo and Teo’s The Good Food Van has been a staple of the B&Q car park on Hambleton Avenue for the last two years.

Pablo told this paper that support from both old and new customers “means the world” to him, and added that the cousins are hoping to give something back to locals that have helped them.

He said: “The community coming in and supporting us means the world to me to be fair because this is why we built it.

“It’s about community and all these people coming in and appreciating your food, they can see what we’re doing and we’ve had so many people say thank you.

“We’re living the dream really, it’s an amazing feeling, we’ve put everything into what we’re doing and I think we can bring some happiness to people’s lives in these hard times.”

Pablo hopes to secure a premises license from the council and extend the trading hours to 10pm from Wednesday to Saturday.
